Well, 2004 is nearly at an end. Which are the 10 best albums you've listened to this year? Here are mine:

1. Green Day -- American idiot
2. Mastodon -- Leviathan
3. Amplifier -- Amplifier
4. The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster -- The Royal Society
5. Slipknot -- Vol.3 (The Subliminal Verses)
6. Fear Factory -- Archetype
7. Rammstein --Reise, Reise
8. Killswitch Engage -- The End Of Heartache
9. Amen -- Death Before Musick
10. Jimmy Eat World -- Futures

Slipknot and Green Day really surprised me this year. :)

Inferno.........Motorhead
Audioslave......Audioslave
Red Hot Chili peppers....Greatest Hits 2004

I really like Motorhead cuz they play a cool style of 'Fast Metal'.

Hmm...the only new album I've listened to this year is Cake's Pressure Chief...and, of course, it was great.

Necare - ruin
Nasum - (can't remember the albums name!"#!#)
Flagitious Idiosyncrasy In The Dilapidation(F.I.D) not sure if they released the demos this year, but still worth saying (****ing awsome band!)

Pinback - Summer in Abaddon
The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike
Air - Talkie Walkie
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat
Radiohead - Com Lag EP (Not taking the bad burn into account)
!!! - Louden Up Now

Can't think of any more off the top of my head.

I don't have a favorite album, but I'd nominate Los Lonely Boys - Texican Style as the best concert DVD. It absolutely rocks!

Pj Harvey - Uh Huh Her
Brian Wilson - Smile
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free
Ojos De Brujo - Bari
Hold Steady - Almost Killed Me
The Knockout Pills - 1+1=Ate

That's what I liked best new this year.

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
The Killers - Hot Fuss
Incubus - A Crow Left Of The Murder
Green Day - Amrican Idiot
Blink 182 - Blink 182

I really can't decide myself, but here's the top 10 according to http://www.shoutweb.com :)

2. The Rasmus - Dead Letters
3. Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm
4. Sum 41 - Chuck
5. Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First

(In no particular order)

I think those are the only albums I've listened to FROM this year. I've listened to a crapload of old albums.

Now, if you want THAT list...

1. Dragonforce - Valley of the Damned
2. Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm
3. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
4. W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children
5. The Offspring - Americana
6. The Offspring - Conspiracy of One
7. Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
8. Various WASP albums
9. Various Judas Priest albums
10. Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein
11. Everclear - Slow Motion Daydream
12. Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal

Plus more. But yah, Valley of the Damned is my new "favorite" album. Greatest power metal ever, especially Black Winter Night.

The Folded Palm-Frog Eyes
Rilo Kiley-More Adventurous
My Chemical Romance-Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge

Where did My Chemical Romance come from? The single is OK, but it's nothing amazing (video is pretty funny though). AND THE USED?! As angsty as Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. Out of any new bands, The Killers are decent. Muse beats them all though. (Green Day isn't a new band, but it beats them all too).

I didn't think Absolution was all that great. There were a few good songs, but there were a few dull ones as well. Origin of Symmetry is way better.

They're practically the only good emo band I know. And the cd was really good. So...there ya go. Different strokes for different folks.

I forgot all about Wilco-A Ghost is Born. That cd is amazing.

My Chemical Romance= Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
Green Day= American idiot
Slipknot= Vol.3 (The Subliminal Verses)
A Perfect Circle= Emotive
Biffy Clyro= Infinity Land

A Perfect Circle's Emotive was good, but far off one of the best albums of 2004.

What happened to rock and metal? Its gone down hill from the nu-metal days.... and they were ****ing bad. Nothing new and daring, just safe stuff that will sell.

I can't believe you've got Frog Eyes on your list! Amazing! I wrote a review of that disc for a music zine that's currently in production.

My list (in no particular order):
Frog Eyes - The Folded Palm
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
The Paper Chase - God Bless Your Black Heart
The Sourkeys - s/t
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News
McLusky - The Difference Between Me And You Is That I'm Not On Fire
Devendra Banhart - Rejoicing In The Hands

All I can think of right now!

They Might Be Giants - The Spine
They Might Be Giants - The Spine Surfs Alone (EP)

what else would I say, eh? :p And they both do kick ass.
