I'm done waiting for this game.

I think I was done waiting for it 2 years ago.

It's starting to look like it crumbled under it's own weight.

They should just take whatever they have and focus on releasing them as individual chapters instead because the crawl of media releases isn't enough. I don't care how good the models look. I wanna shot something. NOW.

I'm going to go play some TF2...

Long ago I got to the point where I wasn't sure if it was going to come out (I know it's a big job) but I didn't get angry - I just adopted a "I'm not expecting this mod but I'll be very pleased if it comes out" attitude.

Although I'll be a bit annoyed if it wins a third "Most anticipated mod" award from moddb.

I was merely stating they should make it more manageable. Release it sections.

Remember the public vote is voted on by... the public (non-members can vote in the public awards). If the public say it's 3rd most anticipated mod then it should win that award. Be angry at the people, not the site.

The Editor's Choice awards are there to pick out the less heard-of or more critically-deserving mods.

P.S. I'll be happily surprised if this mod comes out, mainly because of the level of artistic quality and because I'll be interested to see how they've re-interpreted a classic. Not because I'm desperate to play HL on the HL2 engine. I have no expectations, though.

I love how people make 'waiting' sound like it's something they've actively been doing. Like they've been to work all day 'waiting' and come home to their wife and say "Evenin' love, i'm absolutely exhausted, I've been waiting all day". Waiting doesn't involve any effort...yougetme!?

My point is...there is nothing for you to do but when it's released...download and play? In the time being you have a signifcant choice of others games in the world and other mods. Hell there is even the ability to go outside, I'm pretty sure there are things going on out there too.

The fact is, when it's released you know you'll be one of the first 20 people to download it, you're not 'done' of waiting for this mod, you're just impatient and venting unnecessarily.

dude, most people who started a mod all those years ago were then in school or something, and by now they either have jobs and/or families. At least that's what happened with us, after 8 hours+ of working in unreal3 and doing game art I don't really jump for joy to get home and open up the source engine and HAMMER. So if some mods are pretty much dead or very silent it's all for a reason, just know that some mod crews are actually still working secretly to make people like yourself happy with a free mod that took them years of blood and tears, just so you can drop it after 1 week without giving it the support it needs to help it grow. so yes, your post will give all of us dev. teams that extra boost of confidence to finish our mod! :imu:

The only thing I'm waiting for is some pics of the Gonarch and the Nihilanth. Those look like really hard models to make, and I'd love to see what they can do with what they got. I'm not really anticipating the mod, though. I've waited for too long.

Black Mesa is a perfect example of a mod getting its face pwned off by feature creep.

I think it would be really excellent if they released chapter by chapter but that's not how they're doing it.

Rest assured, I do believe this mod will achieve a full release one day, it's simply too high-profile and with too many dedicated team members for that to not happen. Of course it might not be quite nearly as epic as the hype has made it out to be.

Also, I think they make their team sign NDAs, and any mod that does that (unless they have plans, not just hopes, for an eventual retail release) makes my stomach sour with disdain.

No it's not, the company that made SIN was sold to a company that wanted them to make casual games. Maybe if SIN had been a blockbuster it wouldn't have happened but games don't have to be blockbusters to make money.

If anything, Black Mesa is special because of the sheer scope of the undertaking. It'll be a modding milestone when released.

I'm looking forward to this mod. I'm not waiting for it. When it comes out I'll go 'cool!' and play it. But I'm not gonna bitch about it not being out. It would simply be better if it did.
