blood decals on bodies

Strange. They should come up in HL2 for sure but in CSS, not so much. I don't know if there's a console command for it or not. It should be on by default. There might be an "Enable Blood" option somewhere though.

:)

CSS has more blood decals than HL2, if your at a certain distance in HL2 you won't see the decals on the bodies once you get closer. It doesn't matter where you are at in CSS, you'll see the decals always..

hmmm. ive gone up to bodies and looked all around them but still no blood decals! :( would be cool to see where ive hit the enemies

there are blood decals on walls and stuff but i'm not sure if they appear ON the actual bodies themselves

Yes they do.

go crowbar a combine to death, you'll see them. make sure you hit em on the whites of their masks.

there will be a css realism mod and thatll make the blood look cool but if there isnt someone has to figure out how to make people leak blood after they are dead awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Anyway, i don't have the blood stains ON the actural monster/combine either, isn't there some wise kid out there who knows the command if there is one?

violence_ablood [0,1] - If set to 1 shows alien blood when they are hit. Disabling this can improve performance but reduce realism.

violence_agibs [0,1] - If set to 1 shows alien gore when they are hit. Disabling this can improve performance but reduce realism.

violence_hblood [0,1] - If set to 1 shows human blood when they are hit. Disabling this can improve performance but reduce realism.

violence_hgibs [0,1] - If set to 1 shows human gore when they are hit. Disabling this can improve performance but reduce realism.

Thanks man  I will try it later :stare:

after you kill someone and try to shoot them, the body does not leave any "wounds" on them.

Yea I've been looking for a way to shoot bullet holes into dead bodies as well as live ones. I dont see why you can't, suppose I'll keep looking.

On a related note, does anyone know how to increase the decal limit? There was an option for this in HL1, and I'd always pump it way up. Things get really bloody that way :)

If theres one thing HL2 is short on, its realistic gore and violence.

r_decals [number] - Specifies the maximum number of decals possible at any one time.
The higher this number, the greater the potential for getting slowdowns during large firefights as large numbers of decals are generated.
Reducing this setting can improve performance in such situations.

r_maxmodeldecal [number] - If r_drawmodeldecals is enabled, this number determines the maximum number of decals which can be drawn on a model.
The higher the setting the greater the performance impact when firing at models.

I got these definitions off this really cool site here. --> http://www.tweakguides.com/HL2_8.html
They've got a whole lot of console commands and really good descriptions.
