Thanks!Suicide42 said:Looks like something out of unreal 4 :O That render's amazing, you can even see the individual viens! How long did it take you?

Took quite a while. I'd originally planned to use a stock brain model for simplicity, but that didn't turn out too good (stock models suck), so ended up redoing it anyway but it helped for getting the shape right. Texturing took quite a while too, mostly cause I was forever fiddling with it and never happy. Then threw a basic scene together to put it in and rendered it off with FPrime at HD resolution, which took a few minutes (far quicker than regular Lightwave renders)
It's actual purpose if for a test animation of it pulsating and being generally icky (only requires the brain model). So that comes next once I've been to the dentists. Add some squelchy sounds and it should be pretty neat lol.

Am I the only one who thought it was a picture (of a sculpture, or something) for a second?

teh pulsating, kept it more subtle and icky like it could probably crawl around in a struggling kind of way with its regular heartbeat kind of pulse going on at the same time. So if you saw it trying to crawl across the floor to you you'd probably go eiwww thats just wrong! (well more than someone would when they see a brain crawling along the floor) hehe
only has that effect cause the background is relatively blank (more noticable fullscreen btw)vegeta897 said:Jaw dropping, Fenric.
The pulsating could be done better. It just looks like you are zooming in and out. When one part expands, the other should shrink.

The brain is great BTW.![]()

Meh its not that expensive (Though I stopped after 7.5, don't like v8) I've been using it since the early days back on the Amiga and if you know where to look you can get plenty of good deals.. Or review software and get freebies, or get to know the guys running a company and have other people buy their software.LittleB said:How can you afford Lightwave? It's the plugins Lightwave needs that shoots the total cost up. But most people, including me just build up plugins over years and years, otherwise it would be impossible to pay for them all at once. And with LW you really do need them. The above was rendered in Steve Worley's FPrime, which is like the single most coolest plugin ever. Renders most stuff in minutes where LW's own renderer, or even other apps would take a couple of hours. It's a godsend. Only problem is you can't use certain features with it, and it generates huge files while its rendering (because of the way it works with refining images) which can fill up most drives quickly.
Besides Softimage was many times more expensive when I bought that, got it slightly cheaper cause I bought mine at the same time the company back then bought a load of them but was still expensive. Then Maya, I got stung with that cause the price dropped a lot a few months later lol shit![]()
Yep you can model in Bryce. Don't get me wrong its a very good program and it does a really good job of what its supposed to do. You can do a LOT in it, it just isn't as straight forward. This guy from way back called Kano used to do very biomechanical images in it that looked beautiful. Some are still floating about on the net if you can find them. The whole modeling method (for the advanced kind) is done differently than other 3D apps though, for good results. Apart from ZBrush with uses the same painting method of modeling.Datrix said:TDE, I with that I was even 1% as good as you. Right now though all I use is Bryce 5, Flash 5 and a tiny bit of 3DSM
Do you know If its even possible to model in Bryce? I mainly import my models and just use Bryce to animate.

Lightwave is a good place to start learning on, you can download the demo of it www.newtek.com its just the full version only cut down if it can't find the licence and dongle. No time limit though and works fine, good to practice with. I'd recommend it over Max.
