Bug at Gate 5?

Anyone ever done this. I was playing through the airboat section and got to the part where you have to open Gate 5. I stoped to boat by the fence on hte left of the landing dock instead of at the dock, jumped out and found myself behind the fence. :O How I got there I don't know. I had to go through the door from the other side to get the Magnum though, then the soldiers appeared. Has anyone else managed this?

is that where you have to blow the gate open, you shoot the barells from the other side and skip that whole part
