its not that...I want to make sure that everything is compatable before I go and order it. Imagine ordering all this stuff only to find that nothing works with one another. Please take a look at the mobo and video card in particular and tell me if they are any gooda. Also I wonder if there is anything else I need besides a monitor and a floopy drive. I plan on oc-ing this thing so would better fans be a good option?
 
ur prob. better off with dual raptors but thats a nice rig and all of it is compatible
 
You will see the difference with one, for sure. It's running 2 of them in RAID that you might not. If you get one, Windows boot times and game loading times will be noticeably faster.
 
Damn, Now I've got to buy windows xp. would you guys reccomend 64bit or should I go with the regular xp home edition?
 
go for a better processor if possible, an athlon 3700 will limit the preformance of a 7800GTX. Probably not by that much, but u still wont be getting the fullest out of that $500 card. Id recomend an athlon 64 4000+ at least. Ive read reports on the 7800 GTX that said it was even limited by an FX-55.

If that processor is the venice core though you'll be able to overclock to higher speeds with no problems whatsoever.
Looks very nice from where im sitting.

hes talking about win xp pro 64 bit or win xp home i would just go with xp pro non 64bit for now not everything is combatible with 64bit right now its not needed right now
 
Personally I wouldn't get those speakers. I've had 99$ creative 5.1 set before and they didn't sound near as good as the 2.1 logitech set I have now (z2300 150$). Quality and Power over number of speakers for me. I don't watch movies that much on my machine though either so I didn't mind the loss of surround sound. And I didn't miss running into those rear speakers when I got out of my chair. hehe

Also I would not get a eVGA motherboard. They just don't make motherboards, it's not their area. I'd pick a brand that has more experience and that are considered reliable. Asus, Abit, MSI, Gigabyte, Chaintech, DFI etc.

Seagate is good and reliable although their new drives are a lot louder than what they used to be (they got sued for a patent that quiets their drives so they disabled it). Western Digital or Samsung are good drives also. I personally get all western digital drives (except for that maxtor I had...that died) and one of them is a 74GB Raptor (very very fast and has a 5 year warrenty).

Just upgraded to the sandiego 4000+. Should be a good choice and this baby should last me the next 6 years. SCHWING!

The Motherboard was free with the card so I'll see how it works. If it goes out on me, no big thing. As for the Seagate, I dumped that and am now going for a WD raptor 74gb 10000 rpm. Im just going for one for now and maybe I'll get another later on. With the speakers, they're the ones that I figured would match with my sound card, seeing as it too is 7.1 surround sound.

6 Years! HAH! No component that you can buy for less than a thousand dollars can last you 6 years! I even doubt that even what I just said could be true.

All the ones I've sent in I've got back. There have been one or two that I didn't send in though. =p
Although I agree that I would perfer instant savings (even if it was less) than doing mail-in rebates.
 
hmmmm, I don't think the 3700's come in ze venice flavour. It seems like money isn't much of an object to you, so get one of creative's new X-FI gaming sound cards, much better than the audigy is what reviews are saying.

Not sure if you think that is a problem, but I would say its not as teh san diego core is also very good.

i agree go with the san diego core they have low voltage so cooler, more ocable
