Can people mod the SP

I just learned in a recent thread that they removed the hydra (we think) Do you think that people will mod this in as well as other cool goodies and creatures into the HL2 SP? Is it possible to have someone patch the SP campaign with a new mission, new vechicle, new monster etc?

If you could, i think it would be a cool HL2.net (or anyone for that matter) project to see who could make the best extra mission, or new addition to the SP
 
You're probably right, i took that pic from someone else's thread GCF scape doesnt work for me
 
Yeah, I didn't check the "effects" folder. Didn't think to. Just went into "Models" and "Print Screen"ed that window. Maybe this is just another case of the toads.
 
I'm sure we can mod the SP. Just look at Sven Coop for HL1.

You could mod HL2 into an easy bake oven if you really wanted to. Valve made sure that HL2s modding capability is so damn idiot proof, anyone could whip in/out any thing they wanted to see in the game.
 
I do believe Kage is right. I haven't dug through those files yet, and probably won't get around to it till HL2 is out, but when I saw the other thread about the Hydra being taken out, something didn't sound right.

It's not like the Hydra was in concept and they just tossed it out at the end of development, I mean they even had it in the E3 presentation and all. Whether or not we see the Hydra under the exact same circumstances, I'm sure we'll see at least one during the adventure.

Makes sense that the Hydra isn't in the monsters folder, because it appears to be rooted in one spot and seems more like a plant of some kind that reacts to movement, rather than a thinking creature that would attempt to hunt you down.
