I am wanting to change the computer Half Life 2 is installed on. I don't know whether this will work as you need to register online and I have already regesteres the CD-Code on the other one. Is there any other way you can un-regester the CD-Key and reinstall it on a different computer?

All you need to do is install the discs, you DONT need to register the cd key again. Just log into the account you registered HL2 onto. So all you need is steam! Easy peasy.

do you have to uninstall HL2 from the first computer? I want to anyway, but i can't find the uninstall exe; any other way?

Yeah right-click on HL2 and select properties. Then hit "delete local game content". You really don't have to do that though as long as 1 Steam account is running at 1 time.

You can have Half-Life 2 installed on as many different machines as you want all at the same time, but only one can play at a time because you can't be logged on to the same Steam account more than once.

The CD-Key stuff is handled from your steam account, not on your computer.

No you dont need to uninstall them. Just as long as two accounts arent logged in together at the same time, you can have HL2 on multiple machines. Just log into steam from any location with the game installed on that machine.

wow, thanks, really appreciate how quick everyone on this site is.

No problem! We're speedy!

Actually, I'm just a post-whore. But a fast one! And most of my posts contribute something!

alright, since this topic is already deviating a little, and i'm too lazy to make a new topic......Here's a tough Q? for you: is there a way to transfer progress on Half-Life 1 to a different computer??

Yes, and its easy.

C:\Program Files\Valve\SteamApps\<namehere>\half-life\valve\SAVE

^Copy the files from that folder into the same folder on the new computer.

Should work the same for all steam games, just change /half-life/ to whatever.

I'd just like to point out that you can, in fact, play them at the same time.
I've been doing it for months now.

You can't have the same CD key used on multiple accounts, but multiple people using the same account is quite alright from my experience.
