cannot connect to main game server

Every multiplayer game I have is unable to contact to the main game server.
I can't get a list of servers at all.
Everything was fine before and now for some unexplainable reason it just crapped out on me.
Does anyone know what is going on?

i found one thread about this, but it had no replies.

Delete the clientregistry.blob?
And also try deleting the platform.gcf file. (Make backups of both files before deleting them, though)

That sometimes helps by resetting the settings, and Steam will look for a new main server (the one you had might have been offline).
