Hey Peeps,

I got myself a little problem here...
I don't hear the NPC's talk to me!
But if I turn my back or side to them I do hear them..
Maybe the computer thinks my back is my face?
Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance,

Resonance

Are you using headphones? Speakers?

Make you have the right setting set for whichever you are using.

ie: not 4 speakers if you're only using 2.

Go into the audio part of the options and check er' out.

I think thats the problem...
I will check it out emmediately!
I have 4 speakers tho, but I think it doesn't recognize them..
Ill put it on 2 speakers then..
Ill give ya a yell, if its fixed :)
Thanks

Try using headphones, or something other than the speakers you're using just to see if it's your speakers or it's...anything else.

Try doing the soundtest in counter-strike source maybe too.

Thats is probably cause speech in 5.1 is sent through the middle front speaker, unless if it's coming from behind off course.
Means either the speaker is not connected, it's broken, or the drivers are corrupted in some way...
Try setting it to 4.1 (4 speakers) and see if the winXP setting are correct (controll panel -> sound -> speakers -> advanced, something like that)

That happened to me on Battlefield Vietnam. When I face the vehicle that's playing music I can't hear it, but when I turn to the side or back of it I can hear it. Maybe try re-installing HL2 or get a new sound card. I think I re-installed bfv and it worked.

I have a 4.1 sound system, so I've choosen for the option "4 speakers" that makes sence to me.. but when I turn it to 2 speakers, I don't hear anything!

So I should alter my setup for the speakers in windows XP self?
Ill try that..
