can't load

i just got a new hard drive and reinstalled steam and all of my lost content, now when i go to play any games they start to load but they never run and then it just sits there like i didnt do anything, my games are entirely updated and i've tried running with my firewall off and nothing seems to work, if anyone out there can help it would be appreciated

assuming u had to reinstall windows on this same harddrive (unless u run your games off a seperate one) make sure that you have direct x 9.0c installed, that might be the problem http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/DirectX-9.0c-Redistributable.shtml
