Change FOV in deathmatch?

Is it possible to change your FOV in deathmatch? Playing the single player game you have to type in 'sv_cheats 1' first, then the FOV command. I assume that sv_cheats enables cheating and the DM servers pick up on that because everytime I've tried a fov command (in the console of course), with or without the sv_cheats 1, the FOV still stays the same.

Really stupid. I want my usual FOV 100 :/
