Can someone tell me how to change the detail settings on HL2 and HL: Source using a config type command?(For shader detail level, model detail level.ect)I,strangly enough cant change the detail levels in-game,since it will just come up with a error and shut down both games....any suggestions?

im running it on a(Im upgrading in like 2 weeks so dont worry)

AMD Athlon XP 1300+
256Megs of DDR RAM
A7V400-MX Motherboard
and am using the intergrated graphics...(yes i know...)

*sigh* yeah i know...pretty pathetic but still, can anyone answer my question?

Woah O.o
You'll be lucky if it even works on that.
You can't change all the options through the config, though. I'll look for a thread that asked this same question.

Didn't find the one I was looking for, but I found another interesting reply by Virustype2 on a similar problem: Link

bah...damn it didint work.Oh well, you tried and thanks for helping me

Edit:By the way i forgot to tell you that the error that comes up says something about that the memory cannot be "read"
that might help....

Nope, can't find it :|
Type in the console:
find mat_
This will search and display all the console commands that have "mat_" in their name or description. Mat_ commands are console commands that control the graphical element of the game.
For instance, mat_wireframe will, when set to 1, display everything in wireframe.

You could read the descriptions of the commands, and copy and paste them into the console window to test them out what they do. (Your game might crash because some console commands are no longer working and are buggy)

hmmm,i'll give it a try and right now im just gunna try verifying my game cache to see if that might help. Thanks for perservearing with me :D
