I was just playing half life 2 through agen, getting some screens for inspiration for some work im doing in hammer, and i went into klieners lab, and looked at the monitor, and check out what i saw:

i once saw a forum, where a newbie purposely spawned gman in an area and posted a pic, causing some ppl to actually search for him, and caused a frenzy. that was a year back..cant remember which forum

Indeed, you've found the first sighting of the Gman.

Well, technically the first G-Man sighting is right at the very start of the game. Indeed, apart from the words (although given the fact it contains a hyphen one might be able to argue that it is in fact two words) "Half-Life 2", the G-Man is the first thing you see. His eye, that is - not him as a whole.
I suppose one might argue that darkness is the first thing one sees whilst playing the game as the screen is black, however utter darkness would be, essentially, not seeing at all, in which case any such argument similar is null and void.
