From what I've come to understand, Most people and places seem to think and assume Cloverfield is a Monster movie. While this would make the most amount of sense I still find it odd that the plot and the "monster" has yet to be reveled...

now you may be wondering.. "what does this have to do with the Half life series?"

Well, earlier today while i was sitting on my couch being a couch potato ( as usual ) the trailer for Cloverfield came on and my brother yelled " ITS GODZILLA!" and while I would assume it would be a giant like monster such as Godzilla, I like to keep my mind open. I think, if not a big monster what else could it be? A War of the Worlds remake maybe? no... to obvious....

the start of the seven hour war maybe... maybe!!!... highly unlikely, at the time It was a fun thought but the chances seem incredibly slim.

However with this said I remembered the Lost easter egg in EP2 and it reminded me that J.J. Abrams and Gabe where "friends" ( and i use that term lightly) and fans of each others work... And while I still see it as super highly unlikely that its the combine that struck NYC in the Cloverfield trailer, it was still a fun idea/thought to play with at the time :)

what you think?

from the previews it doesnt make sense to me what its even remotely about.

Nice idea, but I really don't think Cloverfield is somehow related to hl. It would be kinda awesome if it was tho.

edit: Try typing cloverfield monster into google images.

That's a fan-made thing, mate. But it's still very cool.

There's no way it's related. And the creators of Cloverfield had already stated that there is a monster, and that we will indeed see him.

Sorry, but as awesome as that would be;
1) The slusho website shows the story of the movie is about a drink of some sort causing an infection in humans. The drink's main substance was harvested from deep ocean.
2) The monster was vaugely seen in the second trailer, it is a bipedal green thingy.
3) Humans getting swollen and exploding is fun, but not as fun as headcrabs.
So no, it is not a Half Life movie (Valve has said that they have and will refuse all movie offerings until something truely worthy comes up). I wish it was.
BUT, since they are friends, it may have adopted some features subconciously or otherwise.
PS: No, it's not Godzilla. Godzilla's movie rights are owned by someone else.
No, it's not Voltran ffs, that movie is later this year.

I thought this too. But I'm not sure. How could the combine and what not cause so much mayhem? Also in the trailer a soildier shouts "IT's winning" so it has to be one big thing.

It has cheesy written all over it, how many times has this been done?! :|

The slusho secret ingredient fromthe deep ocean floor sounds like a zelda quest to give to the cheif villager of oceanea in order to gain entrance to the temple of waterria

Well the thing in the trailer kinda resembles that fan-made pic, except it's smaller and has only one pair of flippers. And a soft drink turning people into zombies is kinda lame, the "monster lice" in that pic are cooler.

I wish it was some thing cooler then a monster movie. Im actually kinda turned off by it now.. :P not that I expected anything more...

Not zombies, the infected women bloated to the point of exploding. Maybe something alien-esque.
Oh and I still hope it's something better than a simple monster movie. The hand-held camera point of view is interesting, and how the video is found in a time where there is no more a Central Park.

My first thought was "what the hell is this doing in the HL Series section when there's already at least one thread about it in the proper place in the Films, TV and DVD section.

My second thought was "hey - I'm going to close this thread now. w00p!"
