I heard that in "last year's build" of HL2, you could download an add-on that would allow you to play the original HL1 in the new Source engine. With HL:S being some time away, and many fans wanting to play HL1 right before playing HL2, what are the odds of the community coming up with it's own version of HL:S with the CS:S engine? Is it even possible with the current system? Legal issues? I'm thinking that if it was done before, it could be done again, but who knows what safeguards Valve has placed on this.

for one, it's illegal. The hammer editor comes with the illegal "beta" of HL2 floating around the internet.

For two...well just wait for the damn thing to come out.

CS;S Engine?? its all the same tbh. All source.

and well..it would take some time i should think. Having to convert all of the old .bsp files in to GCFs or whatever hl2 now uses.

Like moejoe said, the leaked hammer version is HIGHLY illegal, and if you use it, you r eyes will fall out and then start beating you up.

I think he means is a mod team going to fully redo HL1 (models, textures etc) when HL2 comes out
