Compiling with VS2003

I havnt compiled the source engine or even had hl2 installed for maybe as long as a year and something is going wrong but I cant figure out why. Its probably me being stupid but I can compile in debug but not in release I'm getting loads of errors. It is a clean version of HL2DM.

Is there any configuration needed before compiling. I couldnt find any info on the sdk docs.

it would help if you could maybe paste a few of the errors ? , a lot has changed. you might want to scrap the sdk and download the new stuff.

VS2003 is no longer supported, if that's what you're asking for.

etc. What is wrong with compiling it in debug mode? because that works ok. I can compile the SP Sdk fine in release more
