lol I'd not be surprised :D

I just think it sucks, why can't the BBC just advertise like everyone else.. Also this happens after they got told off for making crap and going after viewer figures rather than decent programs. So its like some sulking schoolboy bullying someone smaller than them cause they got told off in the playground.

taxes coming out of our ear's, *screams for more independance*
wtf,, we pay enough VAT on computers, why more..?

also I hate the way you cant 'not' choose weither to have bbc with a sky or telewest packadge.. limited choice, its not right I tells ya

yeah, forced to pay for it even if you don't ever watch it. Now if a cable station tried that, there would be an uproar. But nooo the BBC is allowed, even though I'd put money on there not actually being allowed anymore really. I think it was some silly law or patent they had or something along those lines, whatever it was it was silly and its outdated now.

Europe and Australia are way too heavily taxed. USA gets off a bit more lightly, and I know this cause i lived there, and while my salary did not change, I suddenly had a heap more money.

Can't really complain about Australia though, I mean, we've got jack-all taxable population and a hell of a lot of land/water thats got noone in it but that we still gotta look after.

I just heard today the TV licenses are being kept for another 10 years. Does this mean no computer taxes?

The television license thing always struck me as very odd. I know the Young Ones did a skit about it. Im on the run because i own an illegal television, is really pretty stupid.

So no TV licenses in Australia. Or anything similar that I can think of. The big 'grab for nothing' tax is stamp duty. Its just, 'hey u have some money there, give me some'. Its not even tax on income. As is land tax really. I am taxing you for having a piece of land which you bought, and own. Strange. But its all about revenue, wherever you can grab some cash, grab it. The other big thing for revenue is fining people, fining anyone for anything you can. Parking fines, railway fines, speeding fines (ive never been booked for speeding, but I got given a negligent driving fine because a police officer thought that my lane change was 'not safe'. Or so he said. 'I said its ok officer, stop pretending, I know you have to book 8 people a day and its nearly the end of your shift.' He wanted to bash me but his older copper boss told him to calm down. But you know, they need the cash, so its pull any1 over you can, book for them whatever you can, and grab as much money as possible. There is no point saying I did not do it, or anything similar. How can you disprove negilgent driving? An officer says, you were negligent....you say you were not. There is no video footage. Its a good one that police like to get people on. He also said I was doing at least 100kms per hour (I was driving a car built in 1979, that it could accelerate to 100kms per hour that quickly would defy the laws of physics) and that he was going to be booking me for reckless driving as well. I said 'you have a radar unit on your car officer - what was the locked in speed I was travelling.....' No you tell me what you were doing. 'Ill tell you nothing. I am only obliged to give you my license, tell you my name and address. And give you a version of a collision if I am in one. I don't have to say anything else. ' Yes I did apparently, or I was impeding a police investigation and could be arrested for that. Well, actually no officer - but arrest me if you want, piss a whole heap of public money up against the wall, millions on a trial, and then have me released, and have a time waster stamp put on your career file. But please arrest me, or book me, or let me go or whatver you are going to do but i dont want to listen to or talk with you anymore......' I just go the negligent driving charge.

At the moment in Australia, people are freaking out because the revalued land upwards by a lot (more land tax) and got rid of a tax free threshhold for stamp duty. Could cost the NSW state gov, the gov if they dont backpeddle before the next election
