first of all, i would like to preface this post with a little story. My young 21 year old head was swirling with happiness when i walked into Best Buy the very day that Deus Ex 2 came out. I paid my money and went straight home. Opting to miss a class to play the sequel to one of my all time favorite games, I was almost sweating with anticipation. Here i sit... almost a year later... and the poor coding of Deus Ex 2 has insured that i have not played a single second of the game. At first, it was my system specs... so i upgraded... to a gig of ram and an FX6800 OC 256 DDR. after that, "we dont know" was the response. My current system specs are as follows:
Athlon XP 2600 @ 2.09Ghz
1 Gig DDR ram PC2700
1 40 Gig HD 7200 RPM, 8.9 seek
Sound Blaster Audigy Value
FX6800 OC 256 DDR
While my machine is better than the average, it is in no way the reccomended specs for this game. My processor is well below spec... and my hard drive (at almost 5 years old) is not ideal for gaming. Does this matter with Half Life 2? NO! I am able to not only play the game, but i get 60 FPS with only a couple of features turned to medium settings (ill admit 2 or 3 slideshow instances on the mud skipper... but thats the extent of performance lag). Not only has Valve created an immersive, exciting, and fun game... they actually made one that works! I havent found a bug yet. To anyone who works over at Eidos: take a lesson from Valve... they have my business and you never will again.
now to my neato thought. With the fast climbing monsters ive just run into in raveholm, i thought this game would be even more bad ass if it supported a 4 person multiplayer that follows the single player game... only with a squad of "freeman's". Monsters would be beefed up and there would be more. How much fun could you have at a small lan party... no lights on... headphones on every ear... as you and three friends stalk the streets fending off swarms of bloody nasty things that go pop when you pull the trigger? ideas? criticisms? kudos?
