Hi,
i have couple of ideas since HL1, never got to it, but HL2 is just so much better, so i'm wonder about this ideas (hope they weren't debated a lot._.):
1) "2d" mod, sidescroll view
a) similar to snes games like yoshi, mario etc; controlled by gamepad, picking bonuses(weapons,upgrades,'coins'), end bosses; basicaly normal editing and mapping with some custom stuff like fixed side view, fixed shooting direction, 'coins' u pick should have counter, boss ai, weaps etc...
b)soldat-like game; fixed side view, movable crosshair, somewhat changed physics, normal hl/cs weapon pick-ups, normal gamestyle...
Ok, could above be possible, and how hard (time consuming,knowledge-needing) would it be...
or how much of it could it be achieved with as less modification as possible...basicaly share ideas
2) "rpg" stuff
-3rd person view,
-character moves by clicking on terrain with mouse pointer, normal moves like jump, crouch, climbing etc are same as are now, controled by keyboard
-camera is repositioned by holding right mouse button and draging, mousewheel for zoom...
-inventory aka bagpack, hide/open, showing picked items in inventory, description of item by hover over them, dragging item icons around
-avatar menu, where your current equip u wearing is shown, dragging item icons to avatar to equip it...
-map
and how hard would above stuff be? no static/fighting system, just above, since i think that would require getting really code-dirty...

for some of above stuff i always got some bits of solution here and there, but never really asked in-one-go, so there...
edit: also, is it possible to make HL2 black&white, a.i. taking saturation off, boosting contrast etc...?
