Recently got HL2 via Steam. When I try to play, I can start a new game, and right after the guy in the opening scene says "not to imply that you have been sleeping on the job" the sound starts skipping and the screen goes black, and the game crashes. Sometimes I can ctrl+alt+del and close the game and my comp will be fine, otherwise I have to do a hard restart. Occasionally when I do this I get a small message in the bottom right area of my comp that says that the display driver has stopped responding but has been fixed, or something along those lines.
My specs:
Vista 64
Q6600 Processor
Integrated video (Intel G31/G33)
Other specs available at request.
Before you just write it off as "not good enough video card", I did (via googling) find people who have the game work just fine with this video card, and it meets recommended requirements. I set all video stuff to low (and resolution to 800x600) and the game still does this crash. Also tried running it with my sound card disabled and it still crashes.
Any help would be appreciated.
