crashes my PC after the firat scene in the game

Guys:
I have a DELL Dimesion 8400 w/ 1GYG Ram Pentium 4
I have updated my graphics card (Radeon X300) and my soundcard
SB Live 24bit.

After the game is installed, the game crashes cosntantly at the same scene
the railcar scene after the DR Speech. (Wake up Mr Freemen).
The screen goes blank white and sound is looping.

All the forums on Steampowered.com say the same is happening to others but no patch is available from Valve or steam. What else can i do,

This game is worth playing if I can get a chance to play it

If it started to crash when you updated your graphics drivers, you should try to revert to the old drivers. Or you could try to load a different map through the console, maybe it's just a thing that happens in that area.

Turn down your settings maybe?

Im sure its your video driver. Go to www.ati.com. look for the downloads in Radeon.
