Dark forces and DarkXL

Hello,

I have an old Star Wars FPS called Dark Forces for Steam.

Graphics are pretty bad, but you can change some things on DosBox to make it better. I've been reading about a piece of software called DarkXL which improves dramatically graphics but am wondering if it's any safe to use regarding the Steam account.

Any thoughts?
