Decompiling models

I haven't been on the mod scene on a while and the other day I tried to decompile a model to edit it, but the program wouldn't open properly, and I followed the directions to the tea. I was using cannonfodder's decompiler, the latest version. Did an update to HL2 break it? Seems so. How do you guys decompile models now? Thanks.
 
Try this command line: StudioCompiler.exe -nosteam"

You were the guy who modelled pumpkin-head-zombies for the Halloween mod, right?

Yeah I got it to work
what it fails to mention is that instead of steamapps/username/sourcesdk/bin, its REALLY supposed to go into steamapps/username/sourcesdk/bin/ep1/bin
Sometimes I wish there was a "make the model I want for me" button
