RaceX was entirely gearbox's creation, a simple way to add new enemies.

Filling the gaps? They absolutely ruined it, they created plot contrivance after plot contrivance throughout. They really add some cheap b-movie stuff in there.

I always thought Blue Shift added to the plot. It gave us more insight about teleportation. It was short, fun, and there were no cheesy weopons and new enimies
Op4 is, gameplay wise, pretty awesome, but lore-wise it does suck.
A bit rnadom, but does Decay count as canon? Thanks.

You have to consider that this isnt a expansion. Gabe said himself that he would rather call it Halflife3.

A movie is about 1:40-3 hours, a TV serie episode is about 30 minutes.
A normal fps game is about 6-12 hours. A game serie episode is about 3-6 hours.

Why dont you complain at the hundrenths of TV series to? This is a new way of making games, Valve among other companies are the first ones to try it out. They dont want to wait 6 years for a sequel, when everyone has loosed intresst. They rather give it to you as episodes to keep you intressted, like a TV serie.

And there is no way you are ripped of, when you bought the game you agreed to the license and the aula (whatever its called) and you got the content it had, for the price it had, and you payed it, and got it...no harm done. Why didnt you do a bit more research about the game in hand? Find out what it really is, how long it is, what type of game it is and im sure somewhere in the info you would have seen the word "episode".

Once again, this is not a expansion so dont compare it to Opposing force. This is in other words half-life3 in a serie, like seasons in a serie (example Lost:Season 3, episode 1) etc.

piggy: everything except uplink and lost coast are canon
and you're right about blue shift, it's worth noting that the xen-relay teleport system used in hl2 is first mentioned in BS

Blueshit fits in with the plot perfectly, and decay does to an extent.
But why Gearbox ever added RaceX will never be understood.

Hahaha... fanboys.

All you morons crapping all over Gearbox's work and "OMG TEH PLOT HOLES" should really shut your holes already. Marc Laidlaw wrote the storylines for Blue Shift and Opposing Force. You know what that means? You can't blame Gearbox for any ****ing inconsistencies in their games.
Pardon the insults, but I'm sick of reading this shit.

Then how about you don't read it. It has nothing to do with just the storylines, you why don't you just hold your mouth before you jump to conclusions eh?

hahahaha, as for the case of Half-life 2 and it's crashes, this really shows that Steam/Valve is going to become unreliable. That's the real problem but for the sake of playing fan-made source engine games, I am forced to install Steam.

The only thing I loved about Valve is that they provided Zoner's Half-life mod tool and the Source SDK.

I even wasted my money on the game to hope for the best that it will be a great game, but unfortunately, it is too good to be true. Next time, don't be fooled by it's beauty, it may be beautiful in the outside but in the inside (for some people), it will be unplayable as it has bugs and crashes. Do yourself a favour by playing the cool fan-made source engine games by people.
