I recently pulled a retard and bought the CS:S pack instead of the more expensive one with Half Life 2 and CS:S and all those others. What i was wondering is, if i borrow my friends back, which is the more expensive one, can i still install Half Life 2 on my comp, with his? Or do i need to get my own. I'm not worried about him not being able to play online or anything, if that happens, because he has had it for 6 months without installing it.

Yeah you'll need to log into his account to play the game, using his email and password, the game files will only work on an account with the game activated on it. You can't be logged online with that account on two locations either.

If you want to play HL2, assuming he lets you borrow his account, you could come to some kind of arrangement where you play at certain times of day when he won't be playing CS:S online for example.

Sharing accounts is against the SSA, so I'd be careful about sharing.

Oh ok

No no, he isn't even going to play it. I was wondering if i could put it on MY Steam account. from his cd. Technically, it's not his account, because he hasn't even installed anything. I think i'm just gonna by it. I got payed today so i might get it. I'm trying to get a Nintendo DS though so I thought that would work, to use his. Thanks though. Peace

You need to register the Half-Life 2 CD Key to your account if you want to have it.

lol too late anyways. just bought it. thanks guys, oh btw, does anyone know how to install Gary's Mod? I have CS:S, HL:2, and HL2: Deathmatch, but it still doesnt show up in my games list

Already dled it and extracted to the right files, but it doesnt show up on the games list.

Did you extract it into your SourceMods folder in the steam directory?
Please give us the exact spot you extracted it to

Otherwise try restarting steam.
