Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you know that the mod Dodgeball Source is progressing rapidly and that a playable version is available to those that request to enter the Alpha test server.

Head over to dodgeball.xsystemmods.com for screenshots, a forum and tons of info about the game. I will post a little here for your reading enjoyment.

Dodgeball is a full game conversion based on the Source Engine. This engine was chosen because of its use of the Havoc physics engine which will have a huge impact on the feel of this game. Dodgeball will be a game based on the sport we all love. There will be several different game modes:

Competition mode: Totally realistic competition dodgeball rules.
Free For ALL: Deathmatch style with respawning
Speed Ball: Faster running and throwing
Jail Ball
Bowling Ball: Hilarious bowling ball dodgeball.


There will be more than 10 arenas in the final version. Some of these will include:

1. Futuristic arena.

2. Map Similar to the Roman Colliseum.

3. A hockey rink with slippery floors.

4. An Elementary School Playground.

5. A back alley East L.A. setting (already completed!)


This is a game designed with you in mind. We are creating an amazing innovative gameplay experience and focusing on the specific items that will make this game stand out from the croud.

Dodgeball will be available with up to 16 on 16 matches for pure hilarious adrenaline pumping fun! We are in the process of taking full use of the Havoc physics engine to add to the gameplay experience.

One of the most important things about Dodgeball is the competition. We will be hosting and facilitating competitions and currently have a forum up at http://www.dodgeball.xsystemmods.com where teams (clans) can begin to recruit.

The Dodgeball team has already been assembled and has begun work on the project. We are not Hiring at this time. Expect a public beta before long!

lol I actually laughed when I saw the name for this mod... But it looks like a really cool and refreshing concept, although it's also a complex concept. Make sure you pay attention to the details! (In these mods, that's incredibly important, believe me)

Get a texture for that ball asap please. It just hurts my eyes to see that standard no-texture one :)
 
Thanks for the replies! If anyone realizes how important details will be to a mod like this, its me! Im glad you brought it up. It seems like a quick little thing at first but, to make a totally immersive full conversion mod (which Dodgeball is) there are thousands of details to perfect.


About the dodgeball texture, the images you are seeing are from the pre-alpha release which was not made public until after alpha 2 was released. So, the texture is fixed and by alpha 3 (Friday if all goes well) you'll see the classic red dodgeballs flying through the air. Also, the skyscraper map is nearing completion!

Will do, as a matter of fact im loading it up now.

EDIT: You probably know this but you can jump across to the other building in skyscraper map.
 
The skyscraper map was only an infant when we released alpha 2. It has since progressed a ton! In the version you played, the balls would also eventually end up on the ground. This has since been resolved along with a number of other annoyances. It is much cooler graphically now also!
