"Don't Expect Half-Life 3"

First Episode: One, Two and Three will be Half-Life 3 then they decide that they will make Half-Life 3 but now again the three episodes makes Half-Life 3. Can they decide?

Valve better make Half-Life 3 or I will :sniper: them >_<

Lol .... Do You think they will make Half-Life 3?

Wow that was more than 2 years ago. Plans change, especially Valve's plans. If episode 3 turns out to be a success, Valve could make HL3 (I really hope they do). Next time you're looking for news, try to find something more up to date.

I remember in a interview where Valve said there was still much more they want to do with Half-Life. And Valve only said that Episode 3 ends the current HL2 story arc, not the whole saga. I can bet my left testicle there will be a Half-Life 3.

I'll be gutted if Valve decide not to make HL3. Nevertheless, possible lack of financial incentive, plus the presumable fatigue they'll be feeling towards the series once Ep3 comes out, could well mean we'll never see it. Even if we do, 2015 would probably be optimistic. At the moment I'm pretty sure in my own mind that Gabe, Laidlaw and co. have a plan to go on and add an HL3 at some point but I don't know how set in stone this is.

Doug said about Episode 3 that there will be all the exposition you'd expect from the end of this story arc - and joked that 'Gman is Gordon's father, etc'. Now, granted that was just a joke, but even so I found it jarring, because I wasn't really expecting any kind of showdown with Gman or revelations about his identity from Ep3. Reading that made me wonder if Doug was letting slip, in some small way, the fact that Valve are toying with the idea of making Ep3 the franchise finale. Maybe just paranoia on my part. (For the morons out there: No, I'm sure Gman will not turn out to be Gordon's father.)

Incidentally, I never really bought the whole 'the episodes are HL3' thing. Since they're an extension of the HL2 timeline, with the same good guys, bad guys, weaponry, gameplay mechanics, etc., obviously it feels like we're still playing HL2. Which is fine, because HL2 was awesome, and more is better, especially at the level of quality at which the episodes are pitched. However, 2/3rds in, I don't think it's what any fan of the series would expect from a game calling itself 'HL3'. Maybe, now that they're swamped with all their development commitment (or back in 2006...), Valve wish they'd called the games the 'HL3: Episodes', because that would mean they wouldn't have to make an HL3, but that still doesn't mean it would have been doing the title full justice.

I hope they don't reveal too much about the g-man and his "employers" in ep 3. Maybe they should just show a very little bit about him at the end to sort of elude to a HL3 if they decide to make one.

I highly doubt a mere episode can tie up all the loose ends of this story that we currently have, it will end the story arc, but there is a LOT to explain yet. I am confident there will be a third and final game.
