DVD-ROM Version

If you pick up Half-Life 2 in the store, is it the CD or DVD version? I heard you have to get a special edition to get the DVD version? What is the deal? Thanks for the help.

Collector's Edition is DVD, normal is CD.

If you have a DVD-rom and you don't mind paying extra, I'd get the CE. Installing with 5 cd's is a pain

Yeah, it looks like if you go and buy it in the store it is only on CD's, you have to order it from Amazon or some place like that if you want the collector's edition which has the DVD. Talk about a stupid move on Valve's part. I'm sure most people would prefer DVD over CD.

Valve has nothing to do with the Retail version. Vivendi Universal Games are the ones who decides what media the game is pressed on. So for your own sake, don't "talk about" anything when you're ignorant.

USA = 5 Cd's
All CE Editions = DVD

Im in EU and I found it on CD so it's not exactly 100%.

Didn't sound like he was threatening you at all. He was just pointing out that you were wrong for trying to put down Valve over something they probably didnt have any control over.

I don't see why they didn't give everybody a DVD disk instead of 5 CDs.

I don't have a DVD drive in my computer, so that would've been a problem for me Gotta get around to buying one though.
