as we all know EA is probably one of the largest game publishers out there, and in my opinion is a capitalist monster seeking a monopoly on the videogame industry. i respect valve for steam and using it to pretty much bypass publishers for their pc products (they pretty much didn't need VU) and using steam as an example of a studio doing it themselves. i see teaming up with EA to pretty much undermine what i percieved as their "do it yourself" idealology. i realize it's more expensive to distribute a physical product, i wouldn't have had any real problem if they had chosen anyone but EA

Steam for me. I haven't bought anything with the EA logo on it for 3 years.

...What about Battlefield 2?

Err... no... I think that would somehow nullify "haven't bought anything with the EA logo on it for 3 years."

My sig is from the demo, haven't updated it.

EA are monsters, monsters! I love battlefield 2, but it doesn't stop them from being monsters.

I wouldn't mind if they were money grubbing, thats true for all industries, the problem is that they bully their devs into making desicions that prioritise efficiency and money over quality and content

Apparently its just a distribution deal. All there gonna do is put the game on shelves, Valve still has complete control of how its made, and when it will be released (so ive read on the Steam forums anyway).

So if that means EA will put games on the shelves, Will the Expansion Pack (aftermath) be available in a retail disc form this year???

According to gabe, no EA logo for future valve products.

Hi Gabe,

I'm sure you guys have made the right choice to go with EA, although,
Have there been agreements on whether ads are allowed to be pasted on the game? I mean, will there be a billion 'EA' and "challenge everything"
posters everywhere?

Oh sorry, I wasn't sure if you did. Just wanted to make sure.
You passed the test!

YAY so we get to look forward to HL 2005, HL 2006, HL2007, and each year there will be no improvement on the game whatsoever, thats what EA's good for :).
i know valve will still design it, but to me, when theres the words EA on the game, they just dont seem to be as good. lets hope valve doesnt give into the evil people that sign the checks at EA.

who cares is what i say. as long as the game's good, i dont care who has a name slapped on it.
