So, i was going back over the ending song and i realized there is a part where her song says :

"...i have experiments to run and there is research to be done. On the People who are still alive."

Not sure why that never clicked. But that right there just made it plainly clear that she has more test subjects.

Someone posted something about chell being the last, or how it didn't seem like there where anymore test subjects.

I dunno. My 2 cents. Prolly already posted, but I've been trolling for hours and didn't see anyone else make the connection.

yeah I was thinking that, no one mentioned it in the big discussion.

I'm not convinced of the total canonity of anything said in that song. 'The people who are still alive' could refer to remaining test subjects. Or it could be an amusing demonstration of GLaDOS' attitude to/disregard for human life. Or it could be an ironic reference to all the survivors of the 'changes' outside. Or it could be entirely noncanonical. The only thing the song mentions which I'm convinced of is that GLaDOS is, in some shape or form, "still alive" - and only because she emphasises it so much. :p

That said, there probably are more test subjects still in stasis (or dead now maybe?) - it would seem unlikely that Chell, the last, is also the first to escape.

Something that has always bothered me was how Easily you beat her. Was it just me or was that horribly easy?

Like you where meant to beat her..how obvious she makes it in the begining how she almost points out how to kill her.

Well i don't think she was designed for hand to hand combat, she is just an AI after all.

Plus, you weren't supposed to reach her. You should have been baked.

She was already damaged from the beginning, and her logic makes her think that reverse psychology fixes everything. And yes, she hadn't expected you to reach her.

I agree with Sulkdodds, where GLaDOS just doesn't care at all about humans, and just wants to continue experimenting with them. Anyone she can get, she'd like to test, but I prefer to stick to the theory that Chell was the final test subject readily available.

"Now these points of data make a beautiful line
And we’re out of beta, we’re releasing on time
So I’m glad I got burned, think of all the things we learned
For the people who are still alive."

Just a thought here, the line about being out of beta, and releasing on time, while a clever double entendre (as far as I've learned there were no signature Valve delays on Portal) I read it as, GLaDOS' program is now out of beta, and the test subject is released on time, meaning the portal gun and a properly trained user is now there to help the people who are still alive. I could go on and probably write a nice thesis on GLaDOS and Asimov's robotic laws, but if you know the laws then just the mention should be enough here.

Reading online last night I found a quote, "Regarding future Portal developments, Kim Swift said that it will depend on the community's reactions, saying 'we're still playing it by ear at this point, figuring out if we want to do multiplayer next, or Portal 2, or release map packs.'" Well I would love to see all of those possibilities, but a marriage of Half-life, and Portal would be really nice, like a three way co-op, Gordon, Alyx, and Chell, teaming up and doing a kind of triple player thinger, just a thought.

Sorry got a little off topic there.

If you like the song check out this blog by the writer...

The Wiki for portal is where my other quote originates...

P.S. I believe that the song is canonical, it seems like the commentaries and developer quotes I've found soppurt this, but time will tell...

P.P.S The cake is a lie.
