I have purchased the copy of Half-Life2
and have installed it .. and when i go to play it or Deathmatch or Counterstrike
It will play just fine the first time i play
Then when i try to play again .. it will load up and everything .. but as soon as it gets to the part of playing it crashes and an error comes up saying
"failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8;;LockVertexBuffer"
and i have uninstalled and reinstalled atleast 3 or 4 times now .. it does the same thing every time .. i have even reformated my computer for it
And still the same thing .. can anybody help me out?
Does anybody else have the same error?

I used to get that all the time, really can't remember how i stopped it :| .. it kinda went away on its own :P

Also make sure you have directx9 and all your drivers are updated

Well i did go to link .. i downloaded both things
then it got rid of all my ATI stuff and restarted

Then i try to install the "6-4_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_31959" thing .. whatever it is .. it goes and goes till another error comes up it says
"INF error Video driver not found."
Then i click ok .. then another error comes up
"Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"

So bascially .. i have no idea WHAT IM DOING!!

please help

Maybe you fixed it by accident, updating OS/drivers and stuff?
You’ll never know. God does things in mysterious ways.

Meathead.

I dunno what it is with you and that insult but it ain't working too well :P .. but yeah, it more then likely was a driver update that sorted it, all i know is it doesn't come up anymore ;)
