"Entanglement" doesn't play out...???

Hello,

In need of a bit of help. I'm stuck in Entanglement --- after you jump off the ledge and need to set up the three turrets (Sentries). I do that, and Alyx tells me that soldiers are coming, and that more soldiers are coming, and then eventually that she's on her way, but nothing ever really happens...

I've sat there for 30 minutes... I see maybe 2 or 3 guards, but thats about it... there's no major onslaught as I've read there should be, and Alyx never shows up. It's like the script is being triggered to start, but they're all getting stuck somewhere or something...

Any ideas??

Strange, did you try to reload your save game? I've never experienced this, so I dont know this problem, but you could try to reload Half-Life 2 and your save game and try again. If that doesnt work either, maybe you could try start the whole chapter again.

Thanks. Yeah, I tried saving, reloading, quicksave/quickload, all that stuff didn't work. In the end I just started a new game from the Entanglement chapter, and that solved it...

BTW - Taking the extra sentries from the other room really helps. I set myself up with 2 on one door, 3 on the other, and I put them right in the corners facing 45-degree angle across, so they were kinda cross-firing one another --- worked great. Only had to pick two back up during the fight...

Alyx doesn't come until you kill all the soldiers. Sometimes there's one up on the balcony or around the corner you have to hunt down first.

Yeah, I needed a lot more guards than what I was getting. When I was stuck there I'd only see 3 guards at the VERY most. Sometimes only 1 or 2...

... Now that I got into the fight, I see it's supposed to be many more than just a few, so I don't think it was just a straggler I needed to find - it just plain wasn't working right.

I always carry a turrent with me as a weapon throughout the entire level, so I no need to waste any bullet while I am having my way. ( The turrent is function-able even you are carrying it with gravity gun and walking. ) I use the turrent to take down soldiers, barnacles and even headcrabs which are hard to take care with your own aim.

I shoot like a normally do. It runs after me, I shoot it once in the "head".

But, back on topic, have you tried playing without any turrets and seeing if that changes anything?
