This means that theres an entire expansion pack sitting around full of close-quarters maps, it just remains for the technical bugs to be worked out. Some people hated SF, and that may be one of the main reasons why it's not popular, because of the bad performance. It looks like it all goes to poor coding - the game's engine renders everything in your field of view, even if it is not visible to the player (behind the wall). In SF the maps have buildings you can enter, and the engine struggles with rendering complex indoor environments.
You can see that even in vanilla. Go to the top of the TV Tower on Sharqi and look down on the floor. You will get an FPS drop, because the engine renders all the storeys below you.
If DICE managed to do something with that, I bet SF would be more popular.
