Eurogamer gushes over Episode 1

I kinda agree with Gabe that they should of called it Half Life 3: Episode One, but like he said it's kinda too late now.

Nice review.

I think its also fitting to be hl2 episode 1

Do these episodic games mean there wont be just a "Half life 3"??

Not necessarily. Valve has said that they believe they have more stories to tell in the Half-Life 2 "universe" before there is a Half-Life 3.

I wouldn't mind if HL3 involved being on the Combine homeworld and the HL2 episodes were set on Earth.

There could be, and due to massive fan demand for it...I assume it could be possible down the track.

Valve would probably want to create a new IP and not make Half-Life forever.
But I think it's safe to assume there will be a HL3.

Anyways, the review is very nice - describes the game without spoilers, I was worried I'll find some and ruin the game, but there were none :)

So the review gets a 9/10 from me :D

But it isn't really a sequel, it's just a continuation of HL2. Wouldn't make sense to me to call it HL3: Episode 1

It would make sense to me.
A sequel is just a fancy name for a continuation.

Isn't Half-Life 2 basically a continuation of half-Life 1, expect 2 decades later? Arent sequels basically a continuation of the original?

Episode 1 makes it sound like it's the very first anything Half-Life 2.

It's not a big deal, just thought I'd point it out. Alot of people thought After Math sounded better when they changed the title to episode 1, but everyone got used to it.

Now that i think of it Half-Life 3 Episode 1 would have probably been better. Dunno tho, and it really doesnt matter.

what about Half Life 2.25 (seeing as their will be 4 episodes) :P
