EVE via Steam....

I'm weird, and I like it when Steam logs how many hours I've played of a game. My question, I already own a subscription to EVE, could I just DL the game from Steam, then just log into my real account and it's like I've bought from Steam...?

I'm not even 100% sure how the subscription process works with Steam. Does STEAM get some money scraped off the top? Hmm.

Steam only sends the first month to them when you buy the game. You'll have to use CCP's website to renew. You can try to download the trial and instead of going to the page to create an account, just play the game.

I have been watching it lol. From what I get from the retail box (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57386):

1. If you don't have a trial account, starting like you have never played EVE before, then you get all the perks in the box.
2. If you started a trial account, you only get the DVD and 2 months of play time.

I sent a petition to Eve and if that is true, then I will go for the Steam offer. Oh and the DVD includes every expansion pack, except for the newest one! I have no clue why they didn't put in the newest one but they didn't. Details are pretty shaky on it but I just want to get a clarification on the matter. I have a 21 day trial that just ended and I wish to purchase the retail box on March 10, 2009. I read that if i did purchase it, I would only receive the 2 month subscription. I wouldn't receive any increased standings or the ship. It would just convert it to a paying account. Is this the case CCP? Thanks for clarifying the matter.

We apologize for the late reply.

A retail CD-key can not be used to upgrade a trial account. What you would need to do is create a brand new account using the cd-key in the box, and we can then transfer your trial character over to your new account.

UPDATE for this. I just installed the demo and logged in with my info. Only issue is it says I'm playing the demo and when I quit, it wants me to buy it
