An internet user has been found guilty of what police said was Britain's first "web-rage" attack.

Paul Gibbons, 47, tracked down John Jones using details obtained online after the pair exchanged insults in an internet chatroom, a court heard.

He travelled 70 miles to Mr Jones' home in Clacton, Essex, and beat him up with a pickaxe handle in December 2005.

Careful who you give your address out to!

"OH YEA?? Well come over here and say that to my face! I live at 3312 Cherry Lane, Mich...."

I thought internet threats were the dumbest thing I've ever heard of... but driving 70 miles to beat someone up over an internet argument has now broken the record.

It says that the guy has a history of violence. So I don't think this is "Net Rage". It could've happened in a pub, but it wouldn't be called "Pub rage".

Someone wrote an insulting thing on the wall of the toilet stall- I'm gonna track that ****er down and whip him to death with a sprinkler attached to a hose.

Rowr, toilet rage!

BTW, aroudn here, road rage is more like, giving someone the finger if they cut you off or whatever. Internet rage wou;d be like, he tracks this guy down, drives 70 miles, flips him the bird, and then drives off.

Just a simple case of assault and battery.

If two guys argue over morse code, and get into a physical altercation, it's not like they'd call it morse-rage.

Morse-rage XD

The thought of having a heated argument using morse code alone is funny - furiously tapping away.

F ......... U .......... C ......

Pickaxe?

"It'd take someone a lifetime to tunnel through..."

That sucks for Mr. Jones, anyway

Mr. Jones strikes up a conversation with this black-haired flamenco dancer
