Tales from the Crypt - You, Murderer Episode 80.
Lou Spinielli is an ex-criminal who wants to escape from his past. He hires Oscar, a plastic surgeon to sculpt his face in the form of Humphrey Bogart's. When his wife gets the pictures of his past in the mail, Oscar suggests that he kill Vivian. The plan backfires and when Lou returns home and he gets a surprise. Vivian and Oscar have been partners all along. They bump Lou off and take him far into the woods to bury him. Lou's mistress, Erika, shows up and the couple become some murder victims themselves.
This episode was told in the first person. Does anybody think Half-Life could be done as a movie like this?

I remember watching that episode a long time ago then using the story for somekinda school project. IMO a half-life movie shouldn't be done unless it is first person.

The problem with doing a Half-Life movie entirely in First Person, is that you would pretty much be given the exact same experience as the game. Trying to do a movie (which is usually 90 minutes in length) by using only the character's perspective WILL lead to problems.

Which is why there is no need to do a movie in my opinion.

It would be an insult to Valve..the entire half-life series, not to mention us..the fans, if a half-life movie was ever made. That's why it'll never happen.

i still dont see why a half-life movie would even have to be based around Gordon. A movie based around gordon would lead to too many complaints anyway its done: If they make gordon talk, hardcore fans get pissed; if they do a first person movie with gordon not talking as usual, you'll most likely gunna get a crappy movie unless it was done very well. Also the HL movie i think should be more of a drama than a run and gun action movie.

Heres my ideal plot for a HL2 movie which would be directed perferably in the gritty style of Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) filmed kind of like a documentary. I'm probably gunna get more than a little carried away with this.

Basic generic Outline:

Story starts off with a family of poor farmers living on a plain somewhere in the backwaters of Europe. Family includes Mom, Dad, 9 year old girl, 16 year old boy (main character), and 21 year old boy . Starts with normal daily lives of the farmers. Dad drives off to farmers market with crops. Portal storm occurs family stares in awe. Dad dosen't come back from market, the two brothers drive off to find out what's happened to their Dad.

Bullsquid rams car over as they go around a rocky turn. Truck driver who happens to be a friend of the family comes just in time and blasts away the bullsquid with a shotgun. Boys hitch a ride on the truck and the driver tells how the farmer's market got overun by a group of creatures (xen wildlife). The driver tells the boys their fathers last words to get the family to their uncle's. The boys arrive home and the truck driver waits outside with the truck warmed up.

The boys check inside and start calling for their little sister and their mother. There's no answer. The boys hear whimpering downstairs in the basement and see a small broken window on their way down. When they get to the bottem of the stairs they see the sister with a blank look on her face and ask her whats wrong but get no answer. They then turn and see the mother with a headcrab on her face. The brothers rush out to the truck carrying their mother and little sister, whose still in shock. The truck driver drives to the hospital with the 21 yr old in the storage area staying with the mother and the 16 year old and little sister in front.

They drive full throttle to the hospital but theres no sign of activity there. The family and the truck driver look inside; the truck driver brings his shotgun. The truck driver tells the 16 year old to stay in the waiting room with the little sister till they get back. The truck driver and the 21 year old carry the mother into the hostpital and see headcrabbed-but-not-yet-zombied people along the way in. Then they start seeing blood stains and then eventually get attacked by zombies in a horror sequence. I'm making this way too long so im gunna try to make it more generic from here on. They escape from the hospital minus the truck driver and the mother.

They drive along the road some more. Stop to see the 7 hour war unfolding miles away. They make it to the uncle's house and stay there for about 6 months. Metro police storm the house. Uncle defends with hunting rifle but eventually gets knocked on the back of the head by a stun baton. The family is loaded onto a transport and then comes to a concentration-type camp place where they are given uniforms. The 21 year old tries to rebel and is shot. The little sister gets locked inside a transport filled with other small children.

The 16 year old (now 17) is shipped to City 17 on a train. He then escapes with a group of other teenage rebels. The group turns into a violent gang that robs surviving houses on the outskirts of city 17. They eventually become part of the larger rebel force and do attacks against the combine in several environments mentioned in Raising the Bar but not seen in HL2. Then, finally, the rebels help in the attack on city 17 and the movie comes to a climax with the explosion of the citidel as the rebels are sieging it. As the rubble comes down from the huge explosion at the top of the citidel, time freezes and the G-Man has a meeting with the main character, who is now officially hired as a Gordon-Like savior guy who you could then be played as in future expansion packs or sequals.

I've inspired myself to attempt a detailed script now. I'll post it if i ever decide to finish it.
