formatted pc, and steam and hl2 arent working

ok i formatted my pc last night, it needed a good format, so in the morning i decided to re-install , steam and hl2, i did steam first , hl2 was there already, after it updating it got stuck as like 87 % , then i found my hl2 cd and done it from that, but its still stuck


any help would be nice

Try deleting your Clientregistry.blob :
Exit Steam. Delete the clientregistry.blob in the main Steam folder and the platform.gcf file in the Steamapps folder. But make a backup of them first by copying them in another folder! Now restart Steam.
