Yes. But you need to post the symptoms of you machine, where the certain points are, what error messages appear, what the specs are of your machine.

This is a common problem that's arisen supposedly from a game-wide bug. Certain objects, when viewed upclose (about 5 metres away) cause the game to crash. If it's possible, the only way to fix this so far, is to identify the object, for me it was an Antlion webbing. And then either try to outright avoid it or, simply don't look at it's centre point when you try to make your way past it.
For the Antlion web, you just shoot it open, crouch down and then sidestep through it.
If you can't do that with your object, you're screwed until those lazy n00bs at Valve fix the damn problem.
