I'm starting to think we will never find out who the GMAN really is or who he works for, that it will always be a mystery, even after HL3.

If he travels through time, and could get people to alter events for him, why not be more subtle about it? Like in Terminator-- just stop the person who's responsible for whatever mess you wanna fix from being born, and that's all you have to do.
