Getting compiled MDL into hammer?

I have really only just started to use hammer, and have just compiled my first MDL file, however it is not showing up in the hammer entity box, how do i actually get this file from the Models folder, into the hammer program itself.

the most typical way is to make a prop_static entity then adjust the world model field to point to you model
