I read once that Nihilanth says in the first half life, something to the affect of "you are man" "he is not man" possibly referring to GMAN. This is a remote link. What I also thought of in terms of the GMAN recently, and his extra-ordinary abilities and knowledge of the situations at hand, I thought about when Breene spoke to the advisor about escaping Earth that he would have to get into a host body. This host body would look like... either a big fat question mark (not literally, bozos), or perhaps it would be a combine body if he were teleporting directly to the combine's home dimension.

If this is the case for Breene, i'm betting it is the case for the GMAN. He comes from another dimension and is currently in a host body, his somewhat "odd" and almost robotic expressions are not due to being a sociopath, but simply not being used to have a "face" with muscles that contract involuntarily when it has a certain response about something (do aliens from other dimesions have emotions?). This would also explain why he seemingly doesn't care about humanity's survival, particularly, he does not advocate the best solutions for saving human life or furthering our ability to secure Earth. He has other, extra-dimensional agendas to worry about than letting the monkeys get their planet back.

i've got $5 says he's an alien in a host body.

Yes. Or he's able to morph, thus making him appear human to us.

Out of all the pointless speculation threads, this is by a wide margin the single most pointless. No offense.

oohhhhhhh kayyy maybe i got the wrong idea. I thought this board was for speculation / theory. If its not, my bad, please point me to the correct place to post such threads. Was hoping to get some feedback on if people have thought this before about the GMAN, or if they think its a good idea or not.

More psycho cartoons are welcome though, they're funny

*avoidist, perhaps you could welcome a newbie to the forum by redirecting them to the right place for this kind of conversation instead of trying to flame - just to compensate for your tiny package. Let me take the most obvious jokes,,, "the garbage" "your mom" and "hell" are not places to take this conversation. Toilet is no good either.

No, friend, you didn't get the wrong forum. I just have a rather short fuse for theories I've heard a hundred (thousand) times and dispute on a regular basis. I also have a lot of chairs at my disposal. ;)

This exact topic has been discussed at length; there was even a thread about it, the exact same thread, earlier this week or last week. The search button is your friend.

Welcome to the forums, in any case. :)

i've only been lurking a week or so... begging forgiveness. I'll try to search the forums for any "new" ideas i come up with before making new threads.

Oh, yeah, they won't be new, btw.

Generally people keep their ideas to themselves. Mostly because they're probably stupid. Also because we really can't guess at what Valve is going to say. Sure, it's a forum to discuss things. But speculation is left up to Valve.

Also check the Marc Laidlaw vault.

Ahhhh, heres an idea maybe you jerkos will appreciate.

GMAN is a scientist who works/worked for Aperture science, and either is still working for Aperture science (his employers) who enable him with teleportation abilities as he clearly has. OR, he sold our portal tech to another inter dimensional consortium, other than the combine. Hmmmmm?

I've believed that G-Man has been in a host body ever since host bodies were mentioned by the Advisor to Breen. The writers could have had Breen talk about anything but they introduced the "host body" idea due to, I believe, literary technique.

As I recall Darkside is against the "You are man...he is not man...for you he waits...for you..." as evidence due to a lack of context. If I could remember the thread name I would link you his argument.

Edit: Your new G-Man/Aperture Science theory fails on many levels I'm afraid.

Here's a new one (I call this theory the Matrix :D)
-Does anybody else think that the hl2 world is some kind of a Matrix?I mean that would explain the place where gordon is kept in stasis. Please comment on this theory!

That might be interesting. Maybe if Black Mesa was somekind of training facility, and Gordon was some subject there. Then everything he had gone through was faked.

But then Portal would be kinda weird, what is it then?

I just remembered that one James Bond movie, with Pierce Brosnan, when there was attack to the MI6 base, and then it was just a test for Bond how he managed to do all the stuff.

somehow i highly doubt that :O

Maybe it's all just a holodeck.
