I'm not afraid to admit that I am a Halo freak. During my endless hours of internet time while searching for halo related material, I heard a lot, and i mean a lot, about half-life 2. I never played the first half-life, or any of the CS games. The 2 main reasons i love halo is because of the amazing storyline, and the stratigical element. Now, in your humble opinion, does the story of half-life live up to the one created in the halo universe? And also is it as stratigical (only being able to carry two guns, for example) as the halo series, or is it more of a shoot em' up? I appreciate that you will all be polite to me even tho i dont have a clue, and i appreciate if I'm not flamed for my halo gaming background. Thanks in advance.

How old are you? please respond.

Half life 2 will probably be one of the greatest gaming experiences you'll have in a long time.

is not so strategicall

Half-life hav a good storyline,like a good suspense movie

if you are a fan of Firts Persons Shooters you MUST play Half-life even if is a old game

Halo pales in comparison to Half Life ingenious story line, play half life one, though, to appreciate the latter

btw I hav played Halo too and I like it so I hope this will be enough reason to convince you to play Half-life :P

Pros/Cons of Halo and Halo 2. Just my opinion anyways.

Pros:

Great graphics
Fun multiplayer
Vehicles add a bit to the gameplay

Cons:

Boring level design
Mediocre plot
Design of the aliens is kinda lame
No real innovation in terms of gameplay

In response to lanzemurdok, I am 15. The reason I really brought this up is because I don't really have a PC for gaming, is it safe to assume it will be ported to consoles? xbox ideally? most of the fps I play on my pc are run at mimimum settings, and they still are often laggy and look like crap. I don't blame that on the game.

Half-life1 ison ps2 and maybe Half-Life2 maybe will be on xbox

and Half-life1 is from the 1998 so you dont need a ubber Pc to play it

You need to buy halflife2 to understand :)

Edit : It'll be worth selling your X-Box and buying a gaming PC ;)

Dual-Wielding = Spray fest. Good for SP, but sucks in MP.

I'm not suprised at the reactions. I'm not going to sell my xbox Atari. I'm sure the halo fan base would act similarly if a half-life fan came in as i did. And as for you, ReadingTooDeep, you sir are an idiot, dual-wielding is awsome, I've never won so many multiplayer games. Halo 2 is very very balanced.

Halo 2 is very nice but the graphics you cannot compair it to hl2 , it will always be a xbox game i have one to, but a shooter will always be better on a pc

Hmm, hard to say. Despite Halo's extremely inadequate level design, it did have a good story and atmosphere. They're quite different, as stories go, so I'm not sure if they can be compared. Half-Life is more about suspense, mystery and conspiracy. Halo is more of an epic space opera.

And also is it as stratigical (only being able to carry two guns, for example) as the halo series, or is it more of a shoot em' up? I appreciate that you will all be polite to me even tho i dont have a clue, and i appreciate if I'm not flamed for my halo gaming background. Thanks in advance.

You can carry all the weapons of the game in both Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Half-Life isn't as tactical as Halo, but Half-Life 2 might be, due to the manipulator gun that you can use to pick up and throw items (chairs, boxes, pipes, grenades) around.

omnistegan, from somebody who has an xbox and has been playing halo2 regularly recently, I can appreciate how much you enjoy it. It really is a well-balanced game.

Half-life and Half-life 2 are sort of a different breed of fps. Half-life definitely still has the strategic elements you like because enemy AI is very good, and is actually the inspiration for the AI that the halo developers created.

As far as the storyline, the storylines of both are really actually very cliche if you look at them from afar, but it's how they're presented and told that makes them special. Personally, I think the way that half-life presents the story is much better than halo. There are no cutscenes where you're taken out of the action... instead, the "cutscenes" happen around you and you can still move and interact with the environment as they're going on.... it's extremely immersive.

There are also just so many thing that hl2 has that halo 2 simply doesn't. The physics in half-life 2 will for the first time in fps history, actually make the environments pretty much completely interactive and realistic... the character facial animations and lip synching technology in hl2 also adds to the realism of the game. And finally, the graphics in halo2 are very polished, but ultimately cartoony. Half-life2 offers a realistic style of graphics with a level of detail that far far far exceeds what halo 2 has to offer.

Ok, forget the selling your xbox idea.

Just get a gaming pc with halflife2 :P

I agree 100%. Like I said beforee If you take a chance to look at the grass on Halo2, its flat and non detailed. It seems like the game is in Direct 3D. No detail to it. And also the alien models are lame.
