Half Life 2 Episode 1 Problem HELP!

When I go to start a new game in Episode 1, the loading screen that follows locks up once it gets to 16 bars or up. I am very frustrated! Please HELP!

If you open up your PC, you're going to see lots of wires. Make sure to cut all of them with a sharp knife. When you're done, try the game again and get back to us.

Thread Starter: Does normal HL2 work fine for you, and other games? Have you made any hardware changes to your computer recently? Have you tried verifying your gcf's (game content files), by right clicking the game in your games list ->properties, then clicking then going to verify files. Good luck.

i don't know if everyone above thinks you've acquired the game via bittorrent or something but anyway....verify your files, re-download if you have to....and report back.
