Half life 2 episode 2 missing gameinfo.txt?

I had downloaded half life 2 episode 2 from the internet which was missing the gameinfo.txt
I have the regular half life 2 installed from steam legitly can i just copy it's gameinfo.txt to use for episode 2?
Is there a way i can download it from the internet? re-downloading the application does not solve the issue
Note - This error only appeared when i try to run Nightmare house 2 it works fine unless i try to play Nightmare house 2 with it.

"The internet" is vague, if you could clarify if that means using Steam...we can instruct you to fix it via Steam. Otherwise you are SOL!

He has HL2 on his pc thru steam so thats a legit item but HL2:ep2 is realy vague so please update that
