Half-Life 2: Episode Pack

Hi, I noticed that the episode pack for Half Life 2 has become available - play.com.

I already have Steam installed with Half Life 2 and episode 1. However, I'd prefer to get a hard copy of episode 2.

However, on the box for the episode pack, it says DVD compatible only. Does this mean I can only use it if I already have a hard copy of HL2 + HL2 ep.1.

Can anyone clarify for me which of these it is? Thanks.

No it doesn't, you can have hard copies or Steam versions, they'll all work together. At the end of the day you are buying an activation code and the content for the games can come from a DVD or downloaded from Steam. You'll be fine purchasing that. "DVD compatible" I assume is on there to tell you that you need a DVD drive to install the game.

Considering you already have HL2 and Episode 1, buying that package will only give you episode 2 as an extra. If you want a hard copy and value for money I'd recommend the Orange box if you have the cash available. Episode 2 / Portal and Team Fortress 2. HL2 and Episode 1 come free with it, and you can donate them to a friend or relative if they haven't played before.
