alright i get this error now and then, like sometimes i can play for like an hour, and then get off, go back on and then ill get the message...i have updated all of my stuff, graphics card, soundcard, motehrboard, bios, i even tried rollin back my graphics card...ne ways the error message i get is this

blah blah blah the instruction blah at ''0x241f94f7' referenced memory at 0x00d00cc0'' memory could not be read......sometimes the message is diff, sometimes its not, my computer specs are:
512MB Ram
Intel Pentium 4 1.7
Power Supply is 500 and some watts lol...
NVIDIA Geforce FX 5700LE
Windows XP, Service Pack 2
80GB Hard drive
Direct X 9.0c
and my soundcard is a RealTeak Audio AC 97 A3.74....lol...ne one think they can hlp?

i have also tried the virtual memory solution that did not work, nor did the launch option solutions...lol

Hmmm...I posted a reply but I don't see one. i guess I'll go again.

Anyways, I get this problem when I'm absolutely raping my system limits. Try turning off unneeded background programs, slowing down so it doesn't try to load too much too fast and tone down your settings. Upgrades don't do much when you're using up too much memory.

The video card is a large part to blame for this in my experience, you can transfer some of your RAM to work the video card only although I don't remember how to do this.

damnnnn.....yah i have nothing running at all when im using HL....i have tried messing around with my settings as well....i have tried changing my paging file n such...but that didnt work either....

also it runs very smooth, just that stupid error message lol..

ive defraged, disk clean up, lol...spyware check, etc my settings are on medium, then the shader and shadow is low....and vsync disabled

or wait do u mean my settings like color, and resolution??

Including those...I had to uninstall some games before because they won't even open let alone crash with specific res settings.

Is this only a recent occurance or did it always happen with HL2 (and apparently other Source games?)

Here are some general troubleshooting tips from the Steam Forums itself.

And please, use the edit button. (Right lower corner of your reply.) I don't mind you use a reply all the time, but moderators having a bad day do.
