half life 2 error?

I am up to the section 'sand traps'. Ive killed all the soldiers from dropships and taken down the gunship with the rpg. According to walkthroughs, someone is supposed to take you downstairs but the only one left in the town is a medic. The problem is, this medic only says to me when i go near him, "heal yourself up" and "ill get outta your way" to which he then backs off whilst holding his gun ready to shoot something. Is this a glitch? How can i get him to help me progress through the lighthouse?

He should just come find you as soon as you shoot the gunship down and you follow him down to the basement.

Forgive me for asking but, are your playing the legal version???

yes, i bought it from dick smiths electronics. The medic guy aint gonna budge, hes just standing there in attack mode

Did you get all the healthkits? Maybe he thinks you're too near death to let you out of his sight?

yeh, he healed me to full health yet still stands there like a putz. I guess im gonna have to load my ravenholm permanant save and continue from there as my autosaves are after the gunship has crashed.
