Half-Life 2 From Steam

First I have Half-Life 2. My buddy wants to know if he purchases Half-Life 2 from Steam will he get the CD's?

No.
Just so you know, the cache files are the only thing on the CD. It's the same stuff you download. You can make your own CDs as backup. And that's with the updated cache files too which is even better.

Also, if he buys the CD version. He will have to keep the CD in the drive when he plays. No real way around that without getting banned.

Buying through steam is a little better IMO. Just have to download it is all.

I bought the CD version and I don't have to keep the CD in my drive... didn't download anything either. =o

EDIT: Yeah, they disabled the CD check, that's what it was. Knew there was something they changed in an update
